Online Teletherapy for a Child's Listening and
Spoken Language Development
Auditory-Verbal Therapy is all about equipping parents with the skills and strategies they need to support their child's listening and spoken language development regardless of physical location and whether the therapist is physically or remotely present.
Since 2010, we have had a robust Teletherapy program giving families the option to receive their Auditory-Verbal Therapy or Aural Rehabilitation sessions via Zoom from their home or an approved venue while the therapist is at one of our locations. The parent, child, and therapist will be able to hear and see one another during the entire session.
Families still receive weekly sessions doing the same activities as if they were receiving therapy in-person at either of our locations. Families receive their materials or list of items to gather ahead of time so everything is ready for the session.
For families who do not have video-conferencing equipment, we have Loaner Teletherapy Kits available.

Teletherapy Testimonials:
"Teletherapy has been great for us! It saves so much time to be able to meet from our home with no driving involved. My son is comfortable since he is already in a familiar location and the activities we can do are unlimited since we have access to all of his toys and the use of our kitchen. My son loves his therapist and looks forward to seeing her. His therapist is so helpful to me as a parent as well because she always has tools and advice and really takes the time listen to any issues we are facing!"

"I was pleasantly surprised with how well my teletherapy sessions went with both ease and comfort. Screen face-to-face still gave me the human interaction that I needed to connect with my therapist and I don’t feel like I missed out on anything. Happy with my success!"

"Teletherapy with has been a great option for our family! Using Aidan's toys and things around our house has created more opportunities to reinforce the concepts between sessions. In addition, Alison has done a great job of providing materials that further supplement what we have at home."

"There was just one problem that we encountered week after week during in-person therapy: the drive. No 5-year-old wants to sit in a car for 2 hours, then sit in a chair for an hour and work on her language--especially a stubborn 5-year-old that does not appreciate being coached on the things she is doing wrong! It makes for a grumpy kid, and frustrated adults. Lauren then came up with a solution that has, quite literally, changed our lives: she asked if we would like to try Teletherapy. We were agreeable, because anything to get in more therapy and less driving! Once a week we come home from school, and get on the computer to “play” with Lauren for an hour. Scarlett is comfortable, because she is at home in her own environment, and because she isn’t travelling hours and tired from a car trip. It means we spend much more time on task, and much less time dealing with tears. She continues to make rapid progress, and now has a real chance at being successful in a hearing world. We are so thankful for AVC and especially the option of doing teletherapy."
