Georgia Loaner Hearing Aid Bank
The Auditory-Verbal Center hosts the Georgia Loaner Hearing Aid Bank provided by the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) program.
The purpose of this program is to provide temporary hearing aid(s) for children with hearing loss, who are under the age of 36 months, while they are waiting to receive their own personal amplification devices. The hearing aid(s) are loaned on a one time basis per child for 6 months and includes two earmolds per hearing aid. The loaner hearing aid(s) do not cost money to the family. We understand that getting new hearing aids is a huge financial burden but it's also a necessity for early intervention. In order to avoid any delays and to give parents time to get their finances, this Loaner Bank was put into place. Sometimes, at diagnosis, families already know their child is on the track to get Cochlear Implants so this program helps these families avoid making the big purchase they don't need for long-term. |
